Job Summary
The primary focus of this part-time, ongoing role will be to serve as project manager for a two-part partnership with the MN Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics to provide (virtual) training and support to pediatricians across Minnesota. This role will later serve as a key project lead in the implementation of a new Nursing Wellbeing pilot project in 1-2 pediatric hospitals.
We are a dynamic, collaborative team that works closely together to advance the objectives of a small organization with a systems-level vision.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as project manager and subject matter expert for two-part partnership with MN Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics.
Scope, plan, organize, and help implement research-based monthly training for pediatricians across Minnesota.
Ensure regular communication with stakeholders across the project. Work closely with partners and advisors.
Collaborate with psychologist consultants for training delivery. Example topics include Increasing Provider Confidence, Building Patient Family Trust, and The First Step in Patient Care: Caring for the Caregiver.
Serve as project manager and subject matter expert for implementation of 1-2 pilot projects. Pilot projects will focus on new Nursing Wellbeing curriculum and will be implemented in intensive care units of pediatric hospitals.
Other General Responsibilities
Ongoing:
Develop & deepen your own knowledge of and expertise in Pediatric Medical Traumatic Stress and related research-based concepts, solutions, and emerging trends. We intend for the person in this role to become a leading expert in this space and will provide time to develop this expertise.
Collaborate with CEO to develop proposals to expand organizational reach.
With Pediatric Providers:
Collaborate with research and hospital-based partners to serve as a bridge, ensuring key interventions are easily adoptable for a busy hospital environment.
Develop training and presentations for a medical provider audience focused on the most up-to-date research. This includes training and presentations about traumatic impacts of life-saving pediatric interventions, and/or how providers can best minimize and mitigate the impact on families and colleagues in their facilities.
With Families:
Organize and co-facilitate monthly meetings with Alongside Ambassadors, a group of parents and caregivers at the core of Alongside’s work. When appropriate, respond to needs, ideas, and connections that come through this group. In partnership with Ambassadors, build infrastructure for this group.
In collaboration with Family Support Consultants:
Co-facilitate Alongside Wellbeing Groups for impacted families, as needed.
Continuously evaluate the impact of Alongside Wellbeing Groups on families.
Develop materials to be used with families in response to expressed needs.
Required Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience
Master of Social Work with LICSW or graduate degree in a related field, such as public policy or public health.
Fluency in English required, bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience required, 10+ years preferred.
Ideal candidates will have personal or professional experience with pediatric critical care.
Skills/Abilities
Highly organized project manager with the ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate schedules, and keep multi-pronged projects on track.
Self-driven, entrepreneurial spirit with an ability to see opportunities and bring them to life. Demonstrated ability to take initiative. Interest in driving projects forward with an eye toward the system-level impact.
Ability to relay complex information concisely in day-to-day work settings and in high-level partnerships.
Demonstrated ability to integrate research, community feedback, and organizational goals to develop resources for use with key stakeholders.
Deep interest in medical traumatic stress in pediatrics and passion for increasing trauma-informed skills in pediatric providers.
Experience and comfort presenting, training, and facilitating.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including in-person and online meetings, phone, email, written documentation, or other mediums, as required.
Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and follow-up skills.
Personable and relatable with the ability to empathize and connect with families and practitioners based on extensive lived and/or professional experience.
Ability to communicate feedback to colleagues or partners in a timely manner.
Work Location
This position is 20 total hours per week, including a minimum of two days in-office at The Coven coworking space in Minneapolis.
Ability to attend and co-facilitate evening virtual meetings a maximum of once per week.
Occasional use of personal vehicle or other means of transportation to travel to and from partner facilities.
Salary
Pay range: $42,000 – $47,500/year.
Benefits: Part-time employees are eligible to receive pro-rated paid time off.
