Mark Sterling, JD, MPP, Board Member

Mark Sterling has been an advisor to mission-driven healthcare organizations for over four decades. He has had a longstanding focus on models to improve care for those underserved by our healthcare system. Mark co-founded the Project on Advanced Care and Health Policy at Harvard Law School’s Petrie-Flom Center, where he served as inaugural Senior Fellow and now serves on its Advisory Board. Mark is a senior strategic advisor to the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC) and to Respecting Choices, as well as to other social impact organizations including Ashoka Fellows as a member of the Ashoka Support Network.

Previously, Mark was a partner in the Washington DC and Miami offices of Hogan Lovells, a global law firm, where he was a founding member of both its Health group and its Miami office. Mark worked on public-private partnerships to establish new medical research institutes, and worked to structure, develop and expand innovative programs serving those with advanced and chronic illnesses. Mark earlier was the first general counsel and chief strategic officer for a leading health care services organization providing end-of-life care.

Mark recently was a Senior Fellow at Harvard’s Advanced Leadership Initiative. Mark holds JD and MPP degrees from The University of Michigan, and has served on Boards for nonprofit organizations caring for individuals with serious illnesses.
