Erin Sugrue, PhD, LICSW
Erin Sugrue, PhD, LICSW is an associate professor of Social Work at Augsburg University in Minneapolis. Dr. Sugrue is a licensed independent clinical social worker in the State of Minnesota and prior to receiving her doctorate, she worked for over a decade as a school social worker and an on-call social worker in a pediatric emergency department.
Dr. Sugrue’s current research focuses on identifying and understanding issues of social, racial, and economic injustice within the public education and child welfare systems, with the goal of developing policy and practice changes that lead to system-level transformation. She has numerous peer-viewed publications on topics ranging from moral injury in the child welfare and K-12 education systems, chronic school absenteeism, school-based responses to mental health challenges of students during COVID-19, and critical discourse analysis in social work education and research.
