Abe Dickison, MBA, Family Support Lead

Abe is no stranger to the challenges faced by families as they navigate critical care for their children. Having experience both as a young patient himself, and as a parent, he brings a unique compassionate lens to his role as the Family Support Lead at Alongside Network. Through his lived-experience he can testify to the pronounced need for resources and community throughout the often under-supported journey.

Presently serving his fourth year on the Children’s Hospital of Minnesota’s Family Advisory Council, Abe is an active participant in education for staff, lending a voice for NICU families in discussions, and making progress for the needs of patients and families.

At the heart of everything he does is his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to creating spaces for community connection. He uplifts diverse communities through his work as a college professor, professional designer, and in his co-facilitation role of Alongside Network Wellbeing Groups. He is also the founder of Brave Bear, a company he created to encourage the celebration of the unique milestones in LGBTQ+ folks to create a connection of support between LGBTQ+ folks and the people that love them.
